WASHINGTON, DC, DECEMBER 18, 2014 – The Association of Global Automakers (Global Automakers) praised U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) for their leadership in securing passage of the Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation (RAMI) Act.

“This legislation builds on the existing investment by automakers in U.S. manufacturing,” said John Bozzella, Global Automakers president and CEO.  “The development of a highly skilled and innovative workforce is critical for the auto industry and this bill is a positive step forward.”

The RAMI Act, cosponsored by Senators Brown and Blunt, builds on the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, an initiative started by President Obama.  It creates a network of manufacturing hubs around the country to promote advancements in manufacturing by forging relationships between public and private entities, including businesses and academia.

“Because the bill is broadly inclusive of all manufacturers, it creates a healthy competitive environment helping to accelerate the development of a skilled manufacturing workforce,” said Bozzella. “Our members' investment keeps growing in America, creating thousands of jobs and accounting for nearly half of vehicles built in the U.S. last year. The passage of the RAMI Act encourages continued investment in American jobs and businesses.”
