Governor John Kasich Receives Global Automakers “Driving Leadership Award”

Marysville, OH October 4, 2018 – Global Automakers honored Ohio Governor John Kasich for his longstanding support of the automotive industry with the Association's inaugural "Driving Leadership Award."

"Governor Kasich has been a longtime friend to the automotive industry and an advocate for advancing life-saving automated and connected vehicle technologies in the Buckeye State," said John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers. "He has taken a visionary approach to future mobility and forged partnerships and developed policies that link the public and private sector together for the overall public good."

Governor Kasich is the first recipient of the Global Automakers "Driving Leadership Award" that recognizes state and federal policymakers who have a demonstrated leadership on policy issues vital to the auto industry.

"I very much appreciate this award, which recognizes Ohio's leadership in this historic transformation of transportation and our efforts to provide a supportive climate for research and innovation, along with the world-class infrastructure needed to develop these technologies that will make our streets and highways safer," said Ohio Governor John R. Kasich.

At the event, Honda officials demonstrated its new proprietary "Smart Intersection" technology for vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. The technology allows cars to virtually see though walls, buildings and other vehicles to help drivers detect and avoid potential crashes.
