WASHINGTON, DC, JULY 3, 2018 – The Association of Global Automakers (Global Automakers) released the following statement from Damon Shelby Porter, Vice President of Government Affairs,  on Governor Sununu’s veto of HB 314, Establishing Licensing Requirements For Autonomous Vehicle Operation and Testing.

“Vehicle safety is an integral component of today’s modern automobiles,” said Porter. “Governor Sununu sent a strong message that New Hampshire supports public policy that promotes innovation and life-saving technologies.”

This bill is unprecedented in its requirements and creates fundamental misalignment between the proper roles of the state and federal governments when it comes to vehicle safety. Furthermore, H.B. 314 will erect barriers to developing and deploying life-saving automated vehicle technology in New Hampshire, beyond those in other states.
