Statement by the Association of Global Automakers on Ex Parte Letter to FCC on Safety Spectrum

“Today, Global Automakers submitted an ex parte letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recommending an updated approach to vehicle-to-everything technologies (V2X) and the 5.9 GHz Safety Spectrum band. The proposal allows for a modern, technology-neutral approach to spur the deployment and evolution of new V2X technologies while ensuring cars are “connected” to avoid crashes and save lives.  Automakers and suppliers have the engineering capabilities to make driving safer than ever, and we are pushing for the rapid expansion of V2X devices on our roadways.  We are at a critical juncture, and it’s important to have the regulatory and spectrum certainty so the deployment of life-saving technologies can be accelerated.”
