Statement by the Association of Global Automakers

"California DMV's proposed automated vehicle (AV) regulations are an improvement over earlier proposals but still include unnecessary and prescriptive requirements that we believe will slow the development, testing and deployment of this life-saving technology. The state's draft regulations would establish significant barriers that do not exist in other states and are inconsistent with federal guidance. California can become a leader at the forefront of AV technology if the state rethinks its approach and avoids establishing roadblocks that will stifle growth and innovation."
