Global Automakers has submitted feedback to the North Caroline Department of Transportation regarding its draft plan to support electric vehicle growth in the state. In general, Global Automakers supports the short-, medium- and long-term objectives in the plan and provided the following suggestions for improving the plan:
- Expanding efforts related to workplace charging
- More carefully considering the full impacts associated with cost parity
- Adding short-, medium- and long-term objectives for fuel cell electric vehicles
- Ensuring adequate and sustained funding for consumer incentives and infrastructure development
The state has set a lofty goal for transportation electrification – 80,000 electric vehicles by 2025, a more than five-fold increase from the approximately 15,000 sales of electric vehicles since 2011. A robust state plan, backed by consistent and sustained funding, is needed to help North Carolina achieve this goal.
