New Jersey is one of two states, along with Maine, that has requirements in place for ZEV sales, but did not sign onto a 2013 multi-state commitment to building a ZEV market.

Vehicle Sales in New Jersey

New ZEV sales in CY 2018 were up by 162% compared to 2017. Last year, 9,256 new ZEVs were sold.
To date, New Jersey's progress toward meeting the 2025 ZEV sales requirement has reached 4.1%.
1.6% of all new vehicles sold in New Jersey in CY 2018 were ZEV versus 6.3% in California, and 1.5% nationwide.

Laws & Incentives

States offer a variety of incentives for zero emission vehicles, including vehicle rebates or tax credit, electric vehicle charging station incentives, workplace charging programs, special high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) or high-occupancy toll (HOT) lane access, and/or fleet purchasing requirements.
