Global Automakers submitted a letter to several states on the recent adoption of the new Federal Fuel Economy and Environment Label and the subsequent policy decision by California. The decision by California allows the new federal label to comply with California labeling requirements for new motor vehicles. The letters request confirmation from 13 other states that they too plan to follow this harmonized direction for new motor vehicle labeling.
The states receiving this letter include: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. Copies of this letter have also been sent to the Environmental Protection Agency, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and California Air Resources Board for their information. Additionally, due to Arizona’s plans to repeal their Low Emission Vehicle program, Arizona was not included in the distribution.
