Statement Regarding NHTSA's Proposed Guidelines on Electronic Devices Installed in Vehicles

WASHINGTON, DC, FEBRUARY 16, 2012 – Today, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released proposed guidelines for the design of electronic devices installed in vehicles. Global Automakers’ member companies are leaders in advancing vehicle safety and we look forward to reviewing and commenting on the new guidelines. We support NHTSA’s intent to help reduce the potential for driver distraction while providing a uniform, modern guideline for evaluating important driver assistance and convenience features demanded by today’s consumers.
