In 1960, Nissan began manufacturing Datsun vehicles in America. Mass production at Nissan's Smyrna, Tenn., plant began in 1983. Today, Nissan has facilities that manufacture, assemble, research, and design vehicles and components in the U.S. The company’s three manufacturing facilities produce many popular models, including the Nissan Altima, Maxima, Xterra, Frontier, and Pathfinder and the Infiniti QX56.

Franklin, Tennessee
U.S. Operations Established: 
Nissan sold its first automobile in the United States in 1958. U.S. operations were established that same year and company headquarters are now located in Franklin, Tenn.
