Coailition Letter to House and Senate Committees on the STANDUP Act

-A A +A
November 8, 2011

The Saferoads4teens Coalition sent a letter, that Global Automakers co-signed, urging the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee to include provisions of the STANDUP Act (H.R. 1515) in anticipation of a scheduled markup of the surface transportation bill on November 9. This measure establishes minimum requirements for state Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws and uses a combination of Federal incentives and sanctions to encourage states to adopt these requirements. The incentive grants provided for in the measure ($25 million annually for the first 3 fiscal years) are to be drawn from the Highway Trust Fund.

The Saferoads4teens Coalition sent the coalition letter to the Chairs and Ranking Minority members of the Senate Environment and Public Works, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committees, and to the relevant subcommittees in each Committee.
