September 18, 2015

Global Automakers jointly submitted comments with the Auto Alliance on the California Air Resources Board's proposed regulations to require collecting fuel economy-related data through the on-board diagnostic (OBD) system. The associations raised concerns about how consumer privacy is protected and the need to include specified practices for the collection of the data. The associations suggested regulatory language to address some of our concerns but also recognized that despite the inclusion of the recommended language, concerns remain with how third parties may access and use this information. In addition to the comment below, the associations also provide a copy of our Privacy Principles.
