On March 31, Global Automakers sent California Senator Bill Monnig a letter of opposition to SB 994, a bill requiring auto manufacturers to share vehicle data with unaffiliated third parties. Global asserted the legislation undermines the author's goals of protecting vehicle owners' safety and the privacy and security of their data.

On March 27, Global Automakers sent New Jersey Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Annette Quijano a letter expressing opposition to AB 1326, an autonomous vehicle bill. On March 19, Global Automakers sent Asm. Al Muratsuchi a letter stating support as a co-sponsor of AB 2013, regarding alternative fuel vehicles and high occupancy vehicle lanes. Global asserted the continuation of incentives to purchase alternative fueled vehicles will help achieve the state's goals of improving the environmental performance of light-duty vehicle fleet, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and lessening our dependence on petroleum.

With Maine's legislature set to hold a hearing on "Right to Repair" (R2R) on January 9, Global Automakers sent a letter requesting the body to defer action in light of negotiation developments in Massachusetts late last year. A byproduct of the Commonwealth's November 2013 bill was framework for the automobile industry stakeholders to craft a national memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will obviate the need for any further states to pass R2R legislation. On Dec. 17, the Global Automakers sent a letter to New Jersey State Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver requesting that the legislature defers any action on its Right to Repair bill (A 4336) in light of developments occurring in Massachusetts earlier this year. Based on the agreed-upon language in the Massachusetts bill, stakeholders have turned to crafting a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will obviate the need for any further states to pass Right to Repair legislation. Action in New Jersey on this legislation would complicate the Right to Repair issue and confuse consumers.
